Folium Privacy Policy

Folium 1.0 ships exclusively on the China App Store. The full, governing policy is the Chinese version (zh). This English version is informational only.
1. Information Collection
Folium does not collect any personally identifiable information.
Folium has no servers. Your notes are stored locally on your device (or in the iCloud Drive folder you chose).
2. Third-party LLM providers
Folium 1.0 ships with 8 PRC-licensed cloud LLM providers + local Ollama only:
- DeepSeek (深度求索)
- Kimi / Moonshot (月之暗面)
- Qwen / Aliyun Bailian (通义千问，阿里云)
- GLM / Zhipu (智谱)
- Doubao / ByteDance (豆包)
- Aliyun Bailian Coding (阿里百炼 Coding)
- Tencent Hunyuan (腾讯混元)
- Volcengine Ark (火山方舟，字节)
All 8 cloud providers are registered with the Cyberspace Administration of China under the “Interim Measures for Generative AI Services”. User data does not leave Chinese jurisdiction.
If you select Ollama with a local endpoint (e.g. http://localhost:11434), no network traffic leaves your device at all.
When you use Ask / Ingest, the contents you choose to process are sent directly from your device to the provider you selected, using your own API key. Folium does not read, log, or forward anything along this path, and has no intermediary servers.
3. Information Sharing
Not shared with any third party operated by Folium. Your API key is stored in Apple Keychain and decryptable only on your device.
4. Permissions
- Microphone (voice capture), Speech Recognition, Camera/Photos (OCR), Files (security-scoped), Network (outbound only).
- All require explicit consent and can be revoked in system Settings.
5. Your Rights
- Settings → Reset to demo state clears your wiki.
- Uninstalling the app removes all local data (except markdown files kept in iCloud Drive).
- Revoke camera / microphone / network at any time in Settings → Folium.
6. Children
Folium is not directed at children under 14.
7. No tracking, ads, analytics
We do not track, do not advertise, do not run analytics, do not have a server.
